One would hope that the recent scandals in the GSA and the Secret Service would wake liberals up to the reality that people are people, whether the work for the government or private industry. Why they are so gung ho on having the government run everything is beyond the Skeptic, people go into private industry to make money, people go into government because they like power, the truth is the difference between the two of them is negligible. The only difference is government workers are less accountable than workers in any other segment of society.
Sharpton's actions criminal?

It might be nice if the left would call out people like Al Sharpton when it is patently obvious that they are doing nothing but stirring up racial hatred. Young black men are senselessly killed in this country every day but Sharpton and Jackson et al only show this sort of 'outrage' when the killer is white, or partially white. Race relations would improve dramatically if these men were called to account for their actions, if the Skeptic had his way they'd be charged with inciting a riot. So called news outlets that won't come out and call this what it is out to lose their license to broadcast, letting stuff like this pass to give a political benefit to either side is irresponsible to say the very least. Let's show a little outrage that young black men are killing young black men every single day of the week.
The Skeptic read an article about Cardinal Timothy Dolan's remarks to a Catholic high school in New York, the cardinal said that he didn't like anyone trying to impose their will on the Catholic Church. He added that Catholics don't impose their views on others so he would appreciate it it no one would seek to impose their views on the church. To that the Skeptic says boo hoo, the Catholic Church imposed their will for hundreds of years on millions of people and a lot of people died as a result of it. The cardinal ought to review the history of his own church and thank whatever god they worship that the church was never treated the way they treated others.
Rush Limbaugh

The Skeptic thinks Rush ought to hang it up. After listening to him for about fifteen years the Skeptic thinks he is starting to lose it. Think back to his early days and compare them to today, his wit used to be quick and his satire was funny, at least if you were a conservative, and now he just seems to be a shell of his former self. The Skeptic never liked his arrogance but you could overlook it until he got too big. Just like a lot of conservatives he thought he could talk one way of life and live another. Conservative values were fine for others but he was above all that, drug addicts were weak minded individuals except for Rush, he was different, others could live a live with one partner but that wasn't good enough for Rush, he's needed four, so far, others could have opinions but only his mattered. Rush is a perfect case of the old Peter Principle, he rose to the level of his own incompetence, a smart man but not smart enough to keep his urges in check. The urge to insult others, the urge to brag incessantly, the urge to marry multiple younger beautiful women.
Rush likes to think of himself as the face of conservatism but he has done more harm to the movement than anyone with the possible exception of Glenn Beck. Rush provides the left with a buffoonish character that they use to characterize the rest of us, they want people to think of Rush when they think of a conservative and people do exactly that, much to the detriment of the conservative movement. The Skeptic is as conservative as anyone but he'd like to see the end of Limbaugh and Glenn Beck...soon.

Why doesn't the left have a conscience? The current debate regarding birth control is a perfect example, the Republican position is so obvious that a moron could see it if they really looked. It is about who pays for birth control, not about whether or not it should be made available and the left knows that but they go ahead with their disingenuous argument that Republicans don't want them to have it. Rush Limbaugh hasn't help the situation with his foul mouthed attack on the woman's moral but it still doesn't change a thing, the argument is entirely invented by the left and they know it. Have they no shame? And Rush, maybe it's time to hang up the gold EIB microphone and go have some fun spending the fortune, you're only helping reelect Obama.
With the untimely death of Andrew Breitbart the Skeptic is once again stunned at the unbelievable level of hate and vitriol coming from the left. If you read the tweets and comments on the articles about his death it's enough to make a sane person conclude that we are a sick, sick society, the man has died, he will never hear the hate that you're spewing but his wife and children will so why bother putting your hatred out there for all to see? What is the point? The left holds itself up to be the decent side of every argument but if you listen to Olbermann, Matthews, Schultz, O'Donnell et al it's clear that they are no better than the people on the right they love to mock and hate. We are on our way to destroying everything our forefathers built and that's probably a good thing in the long run...sometimes things must be destroyed before there can be true renewal. it's just that the transition is never easy.
The Skeptic just likes the Monkees, RIP Davy Jones. For a band that was essentially invented they had quite a run and some pretty good songs.
The Skeptic really hates to be one of those people who thinks everything was better in the good old days but one thing is clear, kids today have zero imagination. Oh there might be a few exceptions here and there but their lives are so regimented and their education is so tilted toward political correctness that they no longer have the spark of imagination that was necessary when they had to find things to do on their own and when education actually meant learning stuff that could be used to make a living. School has become a place where kids go to learn what is socially acceptable and find something to eat, it's hard to imagine a Mark Twain, Thomas Edison or Steve Jobs type emerging from any classroom where union thugs, who are more concerned with their next contract, are doing the teaching. Very sad to see generations of kids turned into little carbon copies of each other instead of being allowed to develop a personality of their own.
The Skeptic thinks that religion is giving God a bad name. With all the hate that religions of all sorts inspire it's no wonder that belief in God is at such an all time low. If organized religion would stick to worrying about the afterlife and forget about politics the Skeptic thinks there would be a lot less stress in the world. Read This.
You really have to wonder about the foods we eat today, we're supposed to be all about healthy living, no bacon and eggs, no whole milk products, cheese is terrible for you, no we eat processed food and low fat everything. Check out some old newsreels, look at the people, they all look pretty healthy, they clearly have less body fat than most people do today yet you know damn well they were eating all the stuff that is supposed to be bad for you. It makes you wonder if the people who spend all their time telling us what to eat have even an inkling of an idea what they're talking about.
The Skeptic hates, no not strong enough a word, despises, the way modern presidential campaigns are conducted. Everything is scripted, carefully placed before focus groups before the candidate utters a word in public about anything in public and look what we get as a result...Obama, Bush, Clinton, all terrible failures in their own way. But something has happened this year that gives the Skeptic a little hope for the future, Newt Gingrich has emerged as a serious candidate and that is striking, the man looks like a dumpy mid-level manager at a widget factory. And then there is his past, the man is reviled by millions of people including millions of conservatives, including the Skeptic, Newt makes the Skeptic's skin crawl, Newt is slimy, there is nothing to love about the man but look at the millions of people ready to cast their vote for him. So why does Newt give the Skeptic hope? Because it shows but can happen when an unscripted candidate with a brain runs as a conservative, imagine if you will, a man who doesn't look like a dumpy manager at a widget factory, then imagine he is a man with true character who has a set of values that he actually lives by and finally, imagine he can express himself without having to read a teleprompter. Do you see where the Skeptic is going with this? Hopefully there is such a man out there watching Newt and giving serious consideration to serving his country and doing it for all the right reasons, right now that seems like a long shot but you never know about these things. A strong person with unquestioned conservative values and a quick mind could take the country by storm. The Skeptic is willing to bet there are at least a couple million men and women out there who fit the bill and here's to hoping a few of them step forward the next time around.
The Skeptic would like to point out a couple things, Romney paid 14% of his income to taxes, last year he gave 14% to charity and this year 20%, Obama gave 1% to charity and Biden gave a whopping $369.00. Any guesses as to who made better use of their money? Pay your taxes and have it wasted or give it to a charity and have it do some good.
Listening to Chris Matthews and his Democratic guests complaining about how terrible and unfair this country is and that it isn't fair that some have to work and some get to clip coupons. Dumb as dirt, all of them.
The Skeptic woke up in a foul mood today and things have only gone downhill from there. First he had to think about the ugly fact that Gingrich is threatening to derail Romney, it's not that the Skeptic is a big fan of Romney but Gingrich is just too repulsive to sit in the White House. Romney is a decent man who would do a good job as president, Gingrich will just divide this country more than we are now. Then the Skeptic read this article and unfortunately he had to agree with the author, click here, we are a nation of moochers and we are getting exactly what we deserve, our country in in the toilet, many of you probably believe we'll escape this mess but any escape will only be temporary. Look at the men we've elected since the last decent president, Ronald Reagan. George Bush the first, a decent man no doubt, but somehow incapable of living up to his word and totally lacking in any sort of vision, it was as if the presidency was his reward for a lifetime in government service. Bill Clinton, an intelligent man with no discernible moral compass, he did as he pleased and let his penis guide him through his life, including his time in the Oval Office, he essentially committed statutory rape and got away with it...and his popularity soared and he went on to make a fortune on his fame. George Bush the second, a man of average intelligence at best and if he had any sort of plan for his war on Iraq he failed miserably in explaining it, although he never seemed especially bright the Skeptic held out some hope that he would be a good president but the Skeptic was extremely disappointed. And Obama, a man with a pleasant voice and little else, we care so little about our country that we ignore the Constitution and put a man in office who is not legally eligible to hold it. Listen, it isn't complicated, a natural born American is someone born to two citizens of the United States, that's the standard, popping out of one's mother on this soil does not make you a natural born American, it makes you born here in a natural way, nothing else. What a load of crap we have to deal with when we allow lawyers to rip our Constitution to shreds in order to allow this man to serve and yet, no one cares, nobody cares about anything anymore, yes the Skeptic is angry today. One more thing on Obama...and us as a people, how we allow a man, who, even if he were legally eligible, spent the most formative years of his life living under a military government in Jakarta, serve as our president, this is madness, the country is in trouble up to its eyeballs and we elect this man with no real connections here, emotional or otherwise. Yes, we deserve what we get and it's very clear that we are indeed going to get it very soon if we don't smarten up.
The Skeptic has a word of advice for everyone, left and right, if you want serious change in this country and you want the divisiveness to subside you need to stop running to the courts and start looking towards the Constitution. Liberals, in general hate the document, because they believe it's a list of negative rights, a list of things government can't do, so they run to the courts to make their changes, it drives conservatives, and the Skeptic, nuts. Liberals like to call this looking forward, they deride the notion that the Constitution is still valid, following the Constitution is looking to the past. The Skeptic says if something is working why screw with it and this country was working just fine when we lived by a set of rules that both sides respected and followed. The Skeptic firmly believes that conservatives could live with virtually any changes the liberals wanted if they would only play by the rules and make these changes via the amendment process. It is the only legal way for the federal government to do most of what they are already doing and no judge can change that unless we allow them to and unfortunately we done just that, someone on the right needs to grow a spine and stand up to this before it's too late.
You can just put this down to stupid stuff the Skeptic notices once in a while and feels the need to share. Fess Parker, the actor who played Daniel Boone for six years on television, and Daniel Boone, the real life frontiersman, both lived to the ripe old age of 85 years.
The Skeptic rarely, if ever, agrees with Bill Clinton on anything but he's absolutely correct when he said MSNBC is the liberal version of Fox, and by the way he wasn't saying that as a compliment. Listen to the line up there from 3PM on, it's disgusting. The thing is, and the Skeptic has commented on this many times neither FOX or MSNBC does our country any good by putting the far left and right on the air, most of the country doesn't agree with either side but these people just inflame the fringes and that's how you destroy a perfectly good country. This country shouldn't be all about government and politics, it should be about individuals living their lives with as little interference from government as possible. Talk radio, FOX and MSNBC have turned politics into a national sport and it's killing us.
The Skeptic likes a good argument as much as the next guy but the way the Republicans are tearing each other apart while the country falls apart doesn't fill him with confidence that any of these guys are up to the job. It seems that most of them are just there for sole purpose of self aggrandizement and not to give any real service to the republic. With Obama working his tail off, at least as much as a self admitted lazy man can, to drag us into socialism from which we will never escape it seems to the Skeptic that real patriots would put aside their petty differences and stop the damn fighting, put out their plans and let the people decide. All the name calling is a colossal waste of time and we don't have much time left...not if we still want to live in a country where the individual still matters.
The more the Skeptic sees of Newt the happier he is that Newt no longer has a chance at the White House. While he might have some good ideas, ideas the Skeptic himself has suggested, his personality is horrible and he would be a disaster as president. He is as arrogant as Obama and he has no redeeming qualities other than the ideas he presents but with that personality no one will ever give his ideas a second look. Sorry Newt but it's time to crawl back in your hole, go down there with Calista and don't come out again.
Political operatives are now focusing on the money Rick Santorum made, not earned, after he lost his last senate race and they should, the Skeptic absolutely despises how politicians use their time in office to make money after they leave office. The practice is disgusting and Santorum should be criticized but until we do something to put an end to it altogether we need to get off Santorum's back, they all do it, that's no excuse but until Clinton and the rest of them give back their ill gotten gains we should leave Santorum alone...on that issue anyway.
The Skeptic is shocked, he was watching Joe Klein, he was talking about Newt and his plans regarding getting people out of poverty. Klein said that the media is distorting Newt and he believed Newt had some good and workable ideas. Shocked. What isn't shocking is right now that idiot Martin Bashir is on with three of his fellow morons talking about what a racist Newt is, the Skeptic doesn't know what is in Newt's heart and neither do these dopes. What the Skeptic does know is we need more ideas for solving our problems because what were doing now is clearly not working. People like Bashir ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Think of every movie you ever watched where some dimwitted, evil functionary expounded on the glories of the State, or threatened someone because they were a problem for the State, or explained that individuals were not important, only the State mattered, well if you are anything like the Skeptic it made your skin crawl. You hated the character that represented the all powerful State, they were always kind of stupid but totally devoted to the State, now think about what America is like in the 21st century, we don't have the jack booted thugs running around asking for your papers yet...but we are getting close.
The Skeptic noticed a story in the paper that said Trump had qualified for the Texas ballot, not that he's running but that he qualified for the ballot. Trump encourages this stuff and who the hell knows, maybe he'll run, the Skeptic hopes he can manage to contain that massive ego and stay out of it but with him you never know. He's a guy who got lucky, his father was a hard working developer who made a bunch of money that the Donald inherited. So what? Listening to him when he gets any tough questions tossed his way it's clear he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, actually he's more like a butter knife, he's just addicted to fame and seeing his fat, ugly mug on the tube. Go away Donald...please, just go away.

Just check out this landing at a very short field, Paro Airport, in the Himalayan Mountains, watch how the pilot has to weave through the mountains just to find the runway. Only six pilots in the world are approved to land here and it isn't difficult to see why. If you appreciate skill and good work you have to love this stuff. The video is from the The Daily Mail.

The Skeptic hates this business of people in the media pushing this nonsense about the right wishing Obama would fail, they don't believe his policies are good for the country. So it stands to reason, of course conservatives wish he would fail, not on any personal basis but on the basis of if he doesn't fail the country will be moved much further to the left...not something conservatives want to happen. The Skeptic knows those pushing that foolishness know that's the case and he knows they wish Republicans failure because they don't want the country to move to the right. The point is that this constant posturing and lying about the opposition harms everyone and those who engage in it have no regard for the rest of us.
The Skeptic is having trouble typing...he's laughing so hard, Obama told Sixty Minutes that he believes he is one of the best presidents ever, like maybe fourth from the top. Gawd, that man has got an ego that can not be matched, he's pompous to the point of being absolutely silly, the Skeptic keeps thinking of his speech when he claimed the seas would stop rising, this arrogance knows no bounds. There's no possible reason he should have such an inflated view of his own accomplishments but that doesn't stop O, maybe he just says these foolish things to irritate conservatives but he seems so serious, unbelievable, he's lucky if he ranks above any of our former presidents, the Skeptic can't think of anyone worse. The Skeptic can't go on right now, it's all so damned hysterically funny he can't stop laughing...wait a minute, maybe the Skeptic should be crying rather than laughing because if the president of the United States is this psychologically disturbed we are in far worse trouble than he previously thought...doesn't matter...laughing or crying we're screwed.
Bill Press always seems like one angry guy, he is always only a second or two away from a verbal explosion, the Skeptic won't venture a guess as to what his problem is but here he tells Tebow to shut the F up about Jesus. Now, does the Skeptic think Jesus cares who wins a football game...not in the least but if Tebow wants to talk about his faith no one should care, at least not enough to make a foul mouthed comment about it.
The Skeptic liked Newt's answer last night about the UN, while the Skeptic still hates Newt he isn't afraid to admit when Newt gets something right. A real hard nosed conservative might have said he would do everything possible to get out of the UN but that would just have the left screaming that the right is just a bunch of simpletons who don't understand the modern world. Newt's answer was exactly the right way to go, criticize the UN, suggest cutbacks but assure everyone that we wouldn't leave it, left unsaid was that we could leave the UN at a later date, once everyone got used to our decreased participation. The Skeptic's position is that the world is more left wing than ever because they are willing to take what they want in little bits and pieces, little by little they push the country to the left, soon enough, the old left seems more conservative, the right has to learn that lesson and be willing to take what they can get when it's there for the taking.
As Bob learned in the old movie What about Bob?, it's all about baby steps.
As Bob learned in the old movie What about Bob?, it's all about baby steps.
You know, Chris Matthews is a real moron, he is right now throwing verbal bombs at Newt Gingrich, insinuating that Newt would throw nuclear bombs into the Middle East, exactly the same crap the left threw at Reagan before he was elected. This guy Mathews is a crazy as they come with the possible exception of Glenn Beck. The Skeptic thinks the men in white coats could be coming for either of both of them at any moment.
MSNBC is now likening Romney to the KKK because of a similarity of a phrase he used to a slogan of the KKK, this is type of crap the Skeptic absolutely hates, it coarsens the country, it's manufacturing a story out of thin air and we need to get away from this sort of stuff. Nobody claims to like this stuff but both sides do it all the time. It's as disgusting as it gets. Even MSNBC must know how putrid they are because Matthews just offered up an apology of sorts.

Moderation in all things...Something all of us should try to remember.
The Skeptic noticed that the brother of MSNBC host Chris Matthews was arrested for lying under oath. Hmm. Interesting. The Skeptic did not see that reported on his show. In the opinion of the Skeptic there is something very odd about Chris Matthews, he seems to be very conflicted, he wants to be considered a serious journalist but he acts like a total buffoon. He makes fun of Republicans because in his mind they all blindly follow Rush Limbaugh but at the same time he seems to be insanely jealous of Limbaugh's stature with Republicans. Now, his own brother is arrested for lying to a Grand Jury, the Grand Jury report said he lied frequently and with ease, in addition, James Matthews, a Republican county commissioner, was accused of holding illegal meetings with other board members and acting as if he were above the law. Here's what makes this interesting to the Skeptic, he was meeting with Democratic members of the board, why? Something very odd indeed in the Matthews' gene pool, at least from a Skeptic's point of view.
Scared Shitless

The timid Norman Lear
In an article the Skeptic read in The Independent Norman Lear, the creator of All in the Family was quoted, "I was chilled by the way he was mixing religion and politics, I knew the power of television and, to be honest, it scared the shit out of me." He was talking about how he came to found People for the American Way, he saw Jimmy Swaggart, a televangelist, talking about praying to rid the Supreme Court of liberals.
Seriously Mr Lear? It scared the shit out of you? You literally took a shit at the thought of Jimmy Swaggart praying that the Court would be rid of liberals? How terribly sad for you. The Skeptic thinks it odd that someone praying for something, anything really, would scare anyone, whether you believe in God or not. The Skeptic is all for the American way but the idea that Jimmy Swaggart would scare anyone into founding a group to oppose the religious right is pretty damn scary in and of itself. We have so many groups dedicated to fighting each other the Skeptic is amazed we aren't having an all out civil war by now. Come on people, snap out of it, no matter what your neighbor believes it isn't likely to hurt you or anyone else, grow up, don't be afraid, stop founding all these foolish organizations and please, above all, don't be scared, and that goes for everyone, the Skeptic doesn't want anyone scared.

Ah, the good old days

_The Skeptic is getting a little nostalgic about the good old days, he's
thinking about the days before this country fell apart and he's thinking
things will never, ever be the same again. The music was better, the movies were better, politics weren't nearly this gawd awful, no, not everything was better but we had more freedom to fail or succeed on our own and that's something future generations will never know, we will all have to sink or swim collectively and the Skeptic thinks no matter how that works out nothing will ever be as fun as marching to your own drummer. It's unbelievable that this
great country has been brought to its knees, it's a little difficult to
finger exactly what happened but the Skeptic thinks it's related to our
own success, too much time on our hands and too many crazy liberals who
thought that feelings were more important the Constitution and that the collective good is more important than any individual accomplishment. Oh well,
every other great civilization collapsed and we should have seen this
coming but it still hurts. Hit the button and play a little American Pie, the Skeptic thinks Don McLean must have been feeling a little nostalgic when he wrote it and it always makes the Skeptic feel good and just because the good old days aren't going to be coming back doesn't mean we can't look back at them and feel good for a while.
Good story about about the origin of American Pie HERE
Good story about about the origin of American Pie HERE
If conservatives are serious about changing this country they're going to have to get serious and forget about this dream that someday liberals are going to wake up one day, see the light and declare themselves to be conservative. It is not going to happen and if conservatives continue listening to the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity nothing will ever change. The thing about trying to convert liberals into conservatives is that you must realize it can't happen overnight, in most cases it's just too much of a culture shock, even if you could switch a liberal to conservative like you switch a light they would be just as likely to switch back at the first sign of any trouble in their lives. No, to really make it happen you need to do it gradually because liberalism has become so ingrained in America the Skeptic thinks half the people who think of themselves as conservatives don't understand what the word really means. Hell, the Skeptic has heard Chris Matthews say he's fairly conservative everyone knows that is a joke.
The Skeptic can't understand why Republicans are so narrow minded when it comes to defense cuts. The Skeptic would urge every conservative to ask themselves why we need this unbelievably expensive military. There is not a single country on the face of the earth that would even consider invading the United States, some might consider launching a few missiles in our direction but we could answer any such attack with a hundredfold attack of our own. The only reason to field this military is to act as the policeman of the world and any good conservative ought give serious thought to the wisdom of that, we've been doing that for years now and all we've gotten for our trouble is a massive debt and thousands of dead and seriously injured soldiers, it is not worth our time or trouble.
It's funny really, that liberals, who generally like to think of themselves as intellectuals and open to new ideas, are in reality so closed minded and prejudiced against any ideas but their own that they resort to mocking people who don't agree with them.
